This bike is from a private collection at Formula One Motorsports in Oakdale, NY. According to the seller, it recently underwent extensive testing, it starts, and it runs great.
This era of Harley-Davidson motorcycles was intrinsically linked to World War II. The WLA model from this year was specifically designed for the US Army. The WLC model was similarly designed specifically for the Canadian National Defense Forces.
Both the WLA and WLC are variants of the iconic Harley-Davidson WL that was first introduced in 1937.
A similar motorcycle in need of major restoration was listed at a Bonhams auction for just over $12,000-15,000 in June of 2010. Other 1942 WLCs in perfect condition have been known to sell around $20,000. If you’re in the market for a vintage collectible motorcycle, give this motorcycle a look.
