Just listed for sale on ChopperExchange is a classic 1976 Shovelhead. The Shovelhead is the most popular old school Harley engine. When the motorcycles featuring this engine were released in 1966 by Harley-Davidson, many Panhead owners quickly upgraded their motorcycles by swapping in these new Shovelhead engines and related parts.
This custom 1976 Harley-Davidson FXE Super Glide that is for sale is an award-winning show bike. It was completely restored by Dirty Rat Motocyco in Salt Lake City, Utah. The motorcycle is now for sale about six miles south in Murray, Utah.
The bike is a truely complete custom classic with all S&S parts inside and fishtail straight pipes. The factory Shovelhead engine on a 1976 FXE is 74 cubic inches, but this customized beauty has been bored out to 94.6 cubic inches. It also features both electric and kick start. It’s black cherry in color, has 648 miles, and is listed at $45,000 or best offer. NADA Guides values this motorcycle in excellent condition at over $18,000, but this motorcycle is a highly customized show bike with a rich history. Given this, it may sell for more than your average 1976 FXE.
