The CrossHelmet is a new smart helmet from Borderless in Japan that is being offered through a Kickstarter campaign. The Borderless team includes members that previously worked at Yamaha, Nikon, and Sony. So far over 250 backers have raised over a quarter million dollars for this next generation helmet that is billed to “transform your riding experience.” The campaign only needed to reach $100,000 to be funded, which they’ve already exceeded. However to unlock all of the stretch goal extras they’re looking to raise over a million dollars.
If you participate in the campaign you can get the helmet for $1,599, which is up to 11% off retail, and you will receive your helmet in October of 2018. The helmet comes equipped with a a rear-view camera, bluetooth connectivity for your phone, and a touch panel for safe operation. The device also includes an advanced sound management solution called CrossSound Control. This system will allow the rider to enhance or limit road noise, use Siri or Google Assistant, communicate with fellow bikers, and listen to music from their phone.
