Sons of Anarchy may have ended in 2014 but it’s still a show favorite for many people. The final episode reached 9.26 million viewers.
The series was based on a real motorcycle club called the Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club, also called the Reaper Crew.
They were an outlaw motorcycle club formed in 1967 in California. It was a violent and dark show, but viewers all comment on its addictiveness and the incredible story.
Since the series centered around a motorcycle gang, it’s no surprise it featured some of the coolest bikes in history. Here are 9 of the best Sons of Anarchy motorcycles and why they’re so awesome.
Marvel at These Sons of Anarchy Motorcycles
Sons of Anarchy is renowned for its intense storyline and amazing acting. But if you’re a motorcycle buff, you were likely drooling over the bikes featured on the show. Here are the 9 best motorcycles from the show.
1. Harley-Davidson Electra Tri-Glide
The Electra Tri-Glide is a three-wheeled motorcycle released in 2019. It’s the first three-wheeled bike Harley put out since the Servi-Car, which they stopped making in 1973.
The Tri-Glide is based on the Electra Glide which is manufactured as a touring motorcycle.
This trike is marketed to riders who are experiencing health problems. This was prevalent in the show; the character who rode the trike was Piney, who kept riding even after suffering from health issues.
2. Harley-Davidson Dyna
Harley discontinued the Dyna frame in 2017. But there’s no denying that this frame will always be a classic. Dynas are some of the most recognizable Harleys from their collection.
These bikes are narrow but still robust and powerful. That’s because they utilize two big-twin engines. They have a stripped-down design, resulting in a traditional but raw look.
That’s why these bikes were perfect for the character Half Sack, who didn’t quite fit in with the rest.
3. Harley-Davidson Dyna Super Glide
The Harley-Davidson Super Glide line traces back to 1971.
Harley created many different models of the Super Glide, the Dyna being one of them. They discontinued the Dyna in 2017 but we can still admire the bike from the Sons of Anarchy series.
Harley introduced the Dyna Chassis in 1991. From there, this model underwent several changes. Many modern frameworks of the Dyna have been reinvented as Softails.
The Softails offer more accessories and better performance, but that didn’t stop the character Clay from riding a Dyna.
4. Harley-Davidson Dyna Super Glide Sport
The Dyna frame was really popular amongst the Reaper Crew! Why was the Dyna so popular?
Since the Anarchy crew was influenced by classic bikers, the show was devoted to showing off bikes that really conveyed their devotion to the classics.
The Dyna shows off the metal, unlike newer models such as the Softail. However, each bike was still customized for each character.
The Sports style is a great example. The characters Jax and Opie chose the Sport style, and it’s no wonder why. It’s a very versatile and customizable bike. For example, Jax has custom T-bars on his Dyna.
It’s an easy bike to ride but is also powerful enough for difficult roads.
The bike is also comfortable and offers many personalization opportunities. This is one of the many reasons why reviewers said the Super Glide Sport is the best of the Dyna line.
It also has impressive longevity so you can enjoy this bike for many rides.
5. Triumph Bonneville
Sons of Anarchy went vintage on us and showed a Triumph Bonneville from the ’70s. This is a motorcycle icon. The Bonneville is reintroduced with the same classic design but with improved modern performance.
This famous British bike is still mean and tough, even though it’s a timeless piece.
Even though the “good guys” aren’t the most favorite of characters in Sons of Anarchy, motorcycle enthusiasts couldn’t help but drool over Linc Potter’s Bonneville.
The bike keeps its classic appearance, only painted green with a unique effect.
6. Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail
Right next to the Dyna, the Softail is one of the most recognizable Harley frames.
And it’s no surprise that Harley combined their polished Heritage model with the classic Softail frame.
Softails are meant to look like classic bikes. They have a rigid frame while offering comfort and ergonomics and modern bikes. The Heritage takes this nostalgic influence a step farther with better engine performance.
The Heritage Softail featured in the show is a true beauty. The bike is black with orange accents, bringing a traditional yet powerful Harley to life.
7. Harley-Davidson Road King
The Mayans were the rival gang in Sons of Anarchy who ended up getting their own spin-off show, Mayans M.C. Their president, Marcus Alvarez, drove a Harley Road King.
For someone who rode as much as Alvarez does, he needs one of the most powerful Harleys.
The Road King features a nostalgic design with a sturdy Milwaukee Eight V-Twin Engine, making the ride smooth and long-lasting, especially for long-distance riding.
In the show, Alvarez painted his Road King green, which resulted in a beauteous bike.
8. Harley-Davidson Screamin’ Eagle Road Glide
The Screamin’ Eagle is one of Harley’s baddest bikes. It’s no surprise that it was the bike chosen for the Grim Bastards’ president, T.O. Cross.
This bike is popular amongst riders because of the customization opportunities.
Even the pre-made bikes have so much detail, making it one of the most head-turning bikes in the Harley catalog.
This doesn’t mean the Screamin’ Eagle is all looks and no show. It features a powerful twin-V engine for maximum performance.
9. Harley-Davidson Dyna Street Bob
Out of all of the Dyna series, the Street Bob is the most classic but outlaw-looking bike.
It has an air-cooled, V-twin, four-stroke engine for power. They chose this bike for the character Tig and personalized it for his outlaw-ish personality.
Bikes By Character
Many bikes were uniform in the show. But each was customized to fit each character’s personality.
It’s essential to pay homage to the characters and the show by discussing the small details that make each bike unique to the characters.
Jax
Jax is arguably the most important character on the show. In the later seasons, he was named as president of the club. He chooses a Harley Dyna Super Glide Sport with custom T-Bars.
It’s powder-coated black with a V-twin, four-stroke engine.
As president of the club, his bike should be a classic. But with all of the riding he has to do, he needs a bike powerful enough to command his crew.
The actor who played Jax, Charlie Hunnam, is also a rider and has his own customized Harley.
Clay Morrow
For the majority of the show, Clay Morrow was president of the club. He was replaced by his stepson, Jax, in the later seasons. In season 5, he was exiled from the club, even though he was one of the nine original members.
Like many of the characters, he also rode a Harley Dyna Super Glide. He rode the 2008 model which boasts a Twin Cam 96 Pushrod V-twin engine. Like Jax, he also has custom T-bars with high risers for handlebars.
The actor who played Clay never rode a motorcycle before the show. But he proved himself as a natural.
Piney Winston
Piney and his trike were mentioned previously. But since this was one of the few trikes featured in the show, it deserves its own section.
Piney was one of the oldest and last original members of the Reaper Crew.
Unfortunately, he was suffering from health issues. His bike was customized to hold his oxygen tank between the two back wheels.
Fans also enjoyed his own take on the reaper logo — his featured the logo with an oxygen tank and mask, which helped personalize Piney and his bike a little bit more.
Opie Winston
Piney’s son was unfortunately killed off in season 5. He’s a club legend, despite his young age. That’s because he was Piney’s son.
Like his best friend Jax, he also chose the Dyna Super Glide Sport because he used his bike for daily use.
He needed something sleek for uniformity yet something powerful enough to ride everywhere. After the death of his wife, Opie emerged himself in the business side of the club — which ultimately led to his demise.
Tig Trager
Tig is by far the group’s most violent character. He needed the toughest bike, which is why he rides the Dyna Street Bob.
He personalized his bike with chrome and black accents, making the bike look even edgier than it already looks. Adding a plethora of skulls and spikes makes
Tig the true rebel he is.
